Are you an enthusiastic, resilient, flexible, and adventurous educator looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a range of schools across rural, remote, and regional Western Australia?

We are seeking applications from eligible, qualified early childhood, primary and secondary teachers available during the 2026 school year. Short‑term appointments for the 2026 school year will be made from as early as 20 November 2025. As a member of our Flying Squad of skilled teachers, you will interact with students across diverse social, physical, and educational settings and experience work in diverse classroom settings where each appointment is different. You will also receive free accommodation, travel to and from appointments and other incentives and allowances. During 2026, you may also be entitled to receive an additional pro‑rated Attraction and Retention Incentive (ARI) payment on top of your other allowances if appointed to an ARI school for a maximum of 10 weeks.

What the Flying Squad provides

The Department of Education Western Australia has a high demand for support across a range of early childhood and primary teaching areas as well as secondary subjects such as mathematics, science, English, humanities and technologies. Flying Squad appointments are initially made for 5–10 weeks, on occasion there may be a requirement for flying squad support for a shorter period of 1–4 weeks. Our Teacher Flying Squad members receive free accommodation and travel to and from the location of any appointment. Due to the nature of the short-term accommodation provided, it is extremely unlikely that pets can travel alongside you.





Eligibility and Registration Requirements

- TRBWA Registration (Full or Provisional). Note you may be eligible for mutual recognition but cannot apply to the Flying Squad register until you hold TRBWA registration.
- Screening clearance – National Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
- Teaching qualification that meets the department requirements.

Prior to commencing your first Flying Squad contract you must apply and register for a Western Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC).

- Your current CV that includes details of your current WWCC and Teacher registration (please also include expiry dates).
- Identification – we do not accept driver's licences. This could be: birth certificate, passport, change of name document (only required if your name is different from your other documents).
- Eligibility to work – if you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, evidence of eligibility to work in Australia such as Australian or New Zealand citizenship or an Australian work permit, Australian work visa with date of entry, etc.
