Palliative Care Volunteer Visitor – Upper North Shore Sydney
Share your time, conversation and companionship with someone who could use a friendly visitor.
As a Palliative Care Volunteer Visitor, you'll provide companionship and social support to people receiving palliative care in their own homes. Through conversation, shared interests, and simply being present, you'll help reduce social isolation and bring comfort, connection, and joy to someone's day.
About the People You'll Support
The people we support are adults receiving palliative care at home who may be experiencing social isolation due to illness, reduced mobility, or changing life circumstances. They are looking for a friendly volunteer to spend time with them, share a conversation, and enjoy regular companionship.
Interests vary from person to person and may include:
- Chatting over a cup of tea
- Reading and sharing stories
- Listening to music
- Playing board games
- Gardening
- Talking about family history and life experiences
- Watching sport
- Arts and crafts
What's Involved?
As a volunteer, you'll provide:
- Friendly companionship
- Social connection
- Meaningful conversation
- A regular and reliable presence
Volunteers provide companionship and social support only.
Volunteers do not provide
- Personal care
- Transport
- Clinical care
- Household tasks

Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- National Police Check required (provided and paid for by HammondCare)
- Willingness to meet HammondCare's immunisation requirements
Location and Time Commitment
Location: Upper North Shore Sydney
Time Commitment:
- 1 to 2 hours per week or fortnight
- Weekday or weekend daytime hours
Visits are arranged based on your availability, location, and shared interests with the client, helping create meaningful and enjoyable connections for everyone involved.

Requirements
When
- Weekday daytime hours
- Flexible weekly or fortnightly commitment
- 1-2 hours between 10:00am and 4:00pm
Volunteers must be aged 18 and meet HammondCare's immunisation requirements. • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare •
