We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for a motivated Paralegal to join our plaintiff personal injury firm in our Sydney office on a hybrid basis and gain hands-on experience in a supportive, client-focused firm making a real difference in people’s lives. Applicants who are available to work a minimum of four days per week may be considered.
The successful candidate will work closely with a Solicitor and wider team taking responsibility and ownership over a range of tasks across a broad range of personal injury matters (predominantly workers compensation), helping to ensure the highest quality service is delivered to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with lawyers to support the progression of a broad range of personal injury claims including workers compensation, work injury damages, motor vehicle accidents (CTP), public liability and total and permanent disability. Duties will include:
- Draft and prepare legal correspondence and documentation.
- Prepare briefs to counsel and letters of instruction to medico-legal experts.
- Obtain statements from clients.
- Coordinate and manage medical and expert appointments.
- Liaise with clients, medical providers, solicitors and other stakeholders.
- Review medical records and summarising key information relevant to the claim.
- Manage deadlines and tracking key dates for court filings, medical reports, and settlement conferences.
- Maintain accurate records to support efficient team workflow.
- Electronic court filing.
- Support the client intake process and responding to enquiries.
- General administrative tasks.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 2+ years recent experience as a Paralegal working in personal injury – workers compensation experience advantageous.
- If currently studying, applicants must have at least two years remaining in their degree.
- Solid knowledge of workers compensation legislation and PIC procedures.
- A keen interest in learning and growing your career in personal injury.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Time management with ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- A genuine interest in client care and helping people.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
