Manhari Metals is actively seeking highly motivated, skilled, and safety-conscious individuals to join our growing team as a Forklift Mechanic / Technician. We are a leader in the metals industry and rely on the effective operation of our heavy machinery. This role is crucial to maintaining our fleet of diverse forklifts and mobile plant equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and workplace safety.
We have exciting opportunities available for both Experienced Tradespeople and Enthusiastic Trainees / Apprentices
Key Responsibilities
- Performing scheduled preventative maintenance, routine servicing, and logbook checks on various makes and models of forklifts (Diesel, LPG, and Electric).
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical, and hydraulic faults.
- Carrying out effective welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
- Completing thorough pre-start and post-repair inspections, ensuring all machinery complies with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed using our digital fleet management system.
- Adhering strictly to all workplace health, safety, and environmental policies (WHS/OH&S;).
Qualification and Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications and demonstrate relevant experience:
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Trade Qualification
A formal Mechanical Trade Qualification (e.g.,
Certificate III or equivalent) in one of the following fields is mandatory:
- Heavy Vehicle/Plant Mechanic
- Light Vehicle Mechanic (with proven experience on heavy equipment)
- Mobile Plant Technology
Practical Experience
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on post-apprenticeship experience in a workshop or field service role is highly preferred for the experienced tradesperson position.
Specific Forklift Expertise
Demonstrable and solid hands-on experience with the servicing, diagnostics, and repairs of various types of forklifts (counterbalance, reach trucks, telehandlers, etc.) and other mobile plant equipment.
Technical Knowledge
A strong, comprehensive, and solid understanding of complex mechanical, high-voltage electrical, and hydraulic systems is essential. This includes engine management, fault finding, and schematics interpretation.
Safety Focus
A commitment to safe working practices and a good understanding of risk assessment procedures.
Highly Desirable Attributes
Licensing
Possession of a current and valid Forklift Operator Licence (LF class) is highly desirable, as it allows for testing and moving equipment.
Drivers Licence
A current and valid Australian Driver's Licence (manual) is required.
Communication Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with the operations team and accurately report repair work.
