Aura Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join our team in Baringa, QLD 4551. This is a part-time position that offers flexibility whilst allowing you to make a meaningful impact on animal health and welfare. As a Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary team and providing high-quality care to the animals that come through our doors. This position is fundamental to the smooth operation of our clinic and the delivery of exceptional veterinary services to our community.
What you'll be doing
Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures, examinations and treatments
Preparing surgical instruments, equipment and treatment areas to ensure they meet strict sterilisation standards
Collecting and processing laboratory samples, including blood work and diagnostic testing
Monitoring and recording vital signs of animals under anaesthesia during procedures
Administering medications under veterinary supervision
Providing post-operative and recovery care for animals following surgical or medical procedures
Assisting in (CT) Computer Topnography
Assisting with radiolody
Maintaining detailed patient records and medical documentation
Educating pet owners on animal care, nutrition, preventative health and post-treatment instructions
Maintaining a clean, secure and hygienic clinic environment in compliance with health and safety regulations
Assisting with admission and discharge procedures for hospitalised animals
What we're looking for
A recognised qualification or certification as a Veterinary Nurse or equivalent (or currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Nursing programme)
Demonstrated knowledge of veterinary nursing practices, animal anatomy, physiology and common medical conditions
Strong practical experience in surgical assistance and anaesthetic monitoring
Proficiency in handling and restraining various animal species safely and compassionately
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate medical records
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative veterinary team
Strong communication skills and empathy when interacting with pet owners
A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to high standards of care
Physical capability to perform the duties of the role, including lifting and moving animals safely
Willingness to stay current with continuing professional development in veterinary nursing
Bright and bubbly can do attitude
