Kogarah, NSW | Two Permanent Opportunities
We are partnering with a well-established Australian organisation to recruit two payroll professionals for their team in Kogarah:
- Payroll Officer
- Senior Payroll Officer
These are two separate permanent opportunities within a collaborative payroll team supporting a national workforce of approximately 4,000 employees. Payroll processing is shared across the team, providing exposure to a genuinely high-volume, complex and multi-award environment. Both roles will play an important part in delivering accurate and compliant payroll, with the Senior Payroll Officer taking on additional technical, reporting and team leadership responsibilities.
The Roles
Working as part of the broader payroll team, you’ll manage an allocated portion of the employee payroll while contributing to the successful delivery of payroll across the organisation’s approximately 4,000-strong workforce.
Responsibilities will include:
- Processing high-volume, end-to-end payroll across multiple states and entities
- Processing wages, allowances, penalties, overtime, leave and deductions
- Managing new starters, employee changes, terminations and final entitlements
- Interpreting and applying Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and statutory obligations
- Reviewing payroll data, investigating discrepancies and resolving payroll queries
- Managing employee leave balances and entitlements
- Processing workers' compensation payments, including PIAWE calculations
- Completing payroll reconciliations and reporting
- Responding to payroll enquiries from employees and managers
- Supporting payroll audits, compliance reviews and process improvements
Payroll Officer We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Officer who is confident managing end-to-end payroll in a busy, deadline-driven setting.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience processing high-volume, end-to-end payroll
- Working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation and payroll tax
- Experience interpreting Modern Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Positive Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to prioritise effectively and meet strict payroll deadlines
Senior Payroll Officer Alongside hands-on payroll processing, the Senior Payroll Officer will provide greater technical expertise and support to the payroll team.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, compliance and statutory requirements
- Demonstrated experience interpreting complex Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring a small team of Payroll Officers
- Strong payroll reporting, reconciliation and analytical capability
- Experience managing complex payroll queries, discrepancies and escalations
- The confidence to provide technical payroll advice and guidance to the wider business
- The ability to identify and drive improvements to payroll processes, controls and systems
- A collaborative, hands-on approach to supporting the wider payroll team
Experience with workforce management or payroll systems such as Humanforce, Emplive or Ento will be highly regarded. Experience within facilities services, cleaning, security or another high-volume, award-intensive industry would also be advantageous.
The Opportunity
These are two great opportunities to join an established Australian organisation with a large national workforce and genuinely complex payroll environment.
Whether you’re an experienced Payroll Officer looking for your next opportunity, or a Senior Payroll Officer looking to combine hands-on payroll expertise with mentoring and technical leadership, we’d like to hear from you.
