Role Description The Physical AI Hackathon Participant role is an on-site position based in Melbourne, VIC, focused on collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design, prototype, and test AI-powered physical solutions (such as robotics, embedded systems, or interactive installations). Day-to-day activities during the hackathon include brainstorming concepts, defining problem statements, developing and integrating AI models with hardware, and iteratively improving prototypes based on feedback and testing.

Participants will document their work, prepare short presentations or demos, and share technical and business insights with mentors and judges. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment, attending workshops and check-ins, and contributing to a respectful, inclusive, and safe team culture.





Qualifications

- Ability to work with AI concepts, data, or machine learning tools, and apply them to real-world physical or hardware-based projects.
- Skills in coding or software development (e.g., Python, C/C++, JavaScript, or similar), with an interest in integrating software with sensors, devices, or robotics platforms.
- Hands-on aptitude for prototyping, electronics, or hardware tinkering (e.g., microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, 3D printing, or basic circuits) or willingness to learn.
- Capability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, communicate ideas clearly, and participate in problem-solving and design discussions.
- Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and a proactive approach to learning new tools and technologies during the event.
- Interest in business, entrepreneurship, or product thinking, including framing use cases, understanding user needs, and considering viability and impact.
- Prior hackathon, project-based learning, or startup experience is beneficial but not required.
- Availability to attend all on-site hackathon sessions in Melbourne, VIC, and adhere to event guidelines and safety protocols.
