About the role
Join Wyndham City's Placemaking and Activations team within the Arts, Events and Cultural Venues Department, where you'll help shape vibrant, welcoming places that people are proud to visit, spend time in and call their own.
As a Placemaking Officer, you'll be the dedicated champion for a portfolio of Wyndham's activity centres. You'll develop a deep understanding of each place, building strong relationships with traders, businesses, landowners, community groups and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, solve local challenges and support each centre to thrive.
Working collaboratively across Council and with local partners, you'll lead place-based initiatives that strengthen local identity, encourage visitation, support local businesses and enhance public spaces. From identifying opportunities for improvement to coordinating projects and fostering partnerships, you'll play an important role in delivering Council's Placemaking Framework and shaping the future of Wyndham's activity centres.

What your day will look like
- Champion a portfolio of activity centres, developing a robust understanding of each place and its opportunities, challenges and aspirations.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with traders, businesses, property owners, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
- Develop, coordinate and deliver place based initiatives that strengthen local identity, support local businesses and encourage visitation.
- Identify opportunities to improve public spaces and work collaboratively across Council to bring projects and initiatives to life.
- Coordinate partnerships, projects and external suppliers to deliver high-quality placemaking outcomes.
- Manage project budgets, procurement processes, quotations, financial reconciliation and reporting.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on project outcomes, using data, stakeholder feedback and local knowledge to inform future priorities and investment.
- Represent Council within your activity centres,
providing a responsive and cooperative point of contact for placemaking opportunities and enquiries.
What you will bring
- Demonstrated experience in placemaking, urban regeneration, community development, economic development, project management or local government.
- A passion for creating welcoming, vibrant places where communities and local businesses can thrive.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate with traders, businesses, community organisations and a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, procurement, contract management and reporting.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus.
- Creative thinking, initiative and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Experience using data, community insight and local knowledge to identify opportunities and evaluate outcomes.
