About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Underground Manager, the Underground Planning Engineer will play a critical role in supporting safe, productive, and sustainable underground mining operations at Paulsen's.

Working closely with mine operations, geology, geotechnical, and production teams, you will be responsible for developing practical mine plans and designs that align with operational requirements and business objectives. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to further develop their technical capability within a collaborative and growing organisation.

Key Focus Areas -

Mine Planning & Design

- Prepare and maintain short, medium, and long-term mine plans and schedules to support operational targets.
- Develop mine designs including level plans, stope designs, drill drives, ventilation requirements, and supporting infrastructure.
- Work collaboratively with geology, geotechnical, operations,



and survey teams to optimise mine extraction and recovery.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating planning and operational risks while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Monitor mining performance and reconcile actual outcomes against planned production.

Project Management & Execution

- Support the delivery of key underground projects and infrastructure initiatives.
- Assist with cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting activities relating to mining operations.
- Provide technical support to operational teams to ensure plans are practical, achievable, and aligned with production objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and productivity.

Collaboration & Leadership

- Build effective working relationships across technical and operational teams.
- Support mentoring and development opportunities for graduate and junior engineers where required.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Actively engage with site personnel to ensure planning outcomes reflect operational realities.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

- Monitor key planning and production metrics, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
- Prepare accurate technical reports, schedules,



forecasts, and operational updates.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of mine planning systems and processes.
- Ensure planning activities align with Black Cat Syndicate's operational, safety, and environmental standards.

About You We are looking for a motivated and proactive mining professional who enjoys working within a close-knit site team and is eager to contribute to the success of a growing operation.

The ideal candidate will have

- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in underground hard rock mining, preferably within the gold sector.
- Exposure to mine planning, design, and scheduling activities.
- Experience using mine planning software, preferably Deswik.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
- A current WA Driver's Licence.
- Previous underground experience is essential
