Role Overview This is a hands-on Plant Accountant role embedded within a large and complex operational site.

Working closely with the Plant Manager and broader site leadership team, you will take ownership of the site’s financial reporting, product costing, inventory accounting and operational performance analysis.

You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the site’s financial results while providing practical insights into production costs, variances, yields and operational drivers.

While the role includes responsibility for month-end accounting and financial control, it also requires someone who is comfortable working closely with operations, investigating performance issues and supporting improvements across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the site month-end process, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly plant performance reports, including detailed variance analysis
- Analyse standard versus actual production costs and investigate key cost, labour, yield and efficiency variances
- Maintain and review standard costs, bills of materials and production cost allocations
- Partner with plant leadership to improve cost control, operational efficiency and financial performance
- Monitor inventory movements, stock adjustments, provisions, write-offs and inventory accuracy
- Support stocktakes, cycle counts and inventory reconciliation processes
- Provide financial insight into production volumes, capacity, throughput, labour and material usage
- Support site budgeting, forecasting and ongoing performance tracking
- Monitor plant expenditure and ensure costs are accurately recorded and appropriately allocated
- Support capital expenditure reporting, project tracking and asset capitalisation
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures




- Assist with internal and external audit requirements relating to the site
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, accounting processes and financial visibility
- Build strong relationships across production, engineering, supply chain and finance

Key Requirements

- 4-8 years’ experience in plant accounting, management accounting, cost accounting or operations finance
- Strong experience across month-end accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting
- Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting and variance analysis
- Demonstrated ability to partner with plant, production or other non-finance stakeholders
- Strong Excel skills, with exposure to ERP systems; SAP experience is highly regarded
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, supply chain, processing or industrial environments preferred
