As an Analyst within NSW Resources, you will play a pivotal role in shaping strategic policy responses to emerging and often complex issues across the exploration and mining industry. You will undertake rigorous research and analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities, translating insights into clear and practical advice that informs senior executive and Ministerial decision making. Your work will directly contribute to evidence-based policy development and the safe and sustainable management of the state’s mineral and petroleum resources, supporting long term prosperity for regional communities and the people of NSW. This role is focused on strategy and policy development to address key issues relating to the NSW Resources portfolio and provide meaningful insights. In this role, you will:

- Provide high-level advice on strategy, policy, industry trends and emerging issues.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the Department to develop strategy and policy for the NSW mining and exploration sector.
- Undertake research and analysis including contemporary themes in the market, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to support development of evidence-based options to address strategic issues relating to the Resources portfolio.




- Tailor communication to support translating complex information into clear, accessible advice for diverse audiences.
- Contribute to a wide range of discrete projects, including briefings, advice, project plans and reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation of timely, concise, high-quality briefing materials to support senior executive and Ministerial decision making,

As our ideal candidate, you will bring:

- Demonstrated experience undertaking research and analysis across complex or contentious policy areas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences including senior executive, ministerial audiences and cabinet.
- Ability to identify emerging trends, assess risks and opportunities, and develop practical recommendations through maintaining ongoing awareness of our operating environment and the resources sector.
- Experience working in a policy environment or contributing to policy development including briefings, cabinet processes and legislative changes will be highly regarded

Essential Requirements

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in a related discipline such as economics, political science, finance, law, planning, sustainability or general science
- Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement
