Senior Power Systems Engineer

We're partnering with a leading engineering services firm with over a decade of experience delivering critical infrastructure across the grid, substations, and renewable energy sectors. With a strong footprint across Australia, New Zealand, and international offices, they provide end-to-end engineering solutions spanning Power Systems Studies, Transmission Lines, Substations, Protection, Control & Automation, and Renewable Energy Connections — supported by full EPC/M delivery capability.
As the energy transition accelerates, they're growing their Power Systems team and looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join a technically driven, collaborative team working on some of the region's most significant grid and renewable energy connection projects.
About the Role
You'll play a key technical role across power system studies and grid connection projects, working alongside a highly experienced team on transmission, substation, and renewable integration projects for major utility and private clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake power system studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination, harmonics, and transient/dynamic stability analysis
- Support grid connection applications and compliance assessments for renewable energy and BESS projects
- Develop technical models and studies using tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or ETAP
- Provide technical input across transmission line and substation design projects
- Liaise with clients, network operators, and internal multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound, compliant solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical governance and quality standards
About You
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems)
- Strong experience in power system studies, grid connections, or transmission/substation engineering
- Proficiency in PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, or similar power systems modelling software
- Familiarity with AEMO/NER requirements and Australian grid connection standards
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and client-facing functions
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) highly regarded
