We're looking for a Principal Developer to serve as a technical beacon for a growing engineering organisation at a major enterprise, with the best daily rates on offer.

You'll own the architectural integrity, scalability and developer experience of the core platforms: a role built for a systems thinker who thrives on solving "impossible" distributed systems problems while staying pragmatically focused on product delivery.

You'll lead the adoption of modern workflow orchestration ( Temporal.io ), drive the JVM-based service strategy, and ensure the cloud-native infrastructure on GCP is world-class.

What You'll Be Doing

- Design and evolve complex, event-driven architectures supporting high-scale data processing and reliable business logic
- Act as subject matter expert for message-oriented architectures, designing resilient, long-running processes and educating the team on stateful workflow patterns
- Set the gold standard for development in Kotlin and Java, ensuring services are performant, observable and maintainable
- Guide the integration between robust JVM backends and modern React/TypeScript front ends, ensuring a seamless, typed end-to-end developer experience
- Standardise and optimise the GCP environment (GKE, Postgres, BigQuery),



and mature CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions

What You'll Bring
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and/or Java, with a solid grasp of JVM nuances, concurrency models and modern frameworks (Micronaut, Spring Boot, or Ktor)
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with the ability to build scalable UI components and manage complex state
- Expert-level knowledge of message-oriented architectures — Temporal.io experience highly prized, or equivalent knowledge of Pub/Sub, Kafka, Cadence or Airflow
- Hands-on GCP experience, specifically Kubernetes (GKE), Cloud SQL (Postgres) and BigQuery for data-driven insights
- A genuine DevOps mindset — "you build it, you run it" — with expert Git skills and experience automating delivery workflows via GitHub Actions
- Typically, 10+ years in software engineering, with recent experience at Principal, Staff or Technical Lead level within a high-growth SaaS or product-led company
