Blake Oliver Consulting has been engaged to appoint a Technical Implementation Consultant into a well-established Australian insurance technology provider, supporting brokers across Australia and Current Zealand. The business is mid-transformation, building out a new low-code, no-code platform that lets brokers configure and launch their own insurance products, and this role sits right at the centre of that rollout.
This isn't a developer or engineering role. It's a hands-on implementation/solutions consultant position, working directly with brokers to understand what they're trying to achieve and building it out using the platform's own drag-and-drop tools, rather than writing code from scratch.
The Role
You'll run multiple concurrent mini-projects with brokers, from initial discovery through to build and go-live, typically a few weeks to a month end to end. Day to day, that means running requirement workshops, configuring quote-bind-pay products, setting up rating logic and referral rules, and building out renewal and workflow automations using the platform's existing toolset.
Responsibilities
- Run discovery workshops with brokers to understand their product and workflow requirements
- Configure quote-bind-pay insurance products using a drag-and-drop, low-code builder
- Set up rating engine logic, referral rules and underwriting triggers
- Build workflow automations covering renewals, compliance logic and client communications
- Interpret JSON and XML structures to diagnose and resolve configuration issues
- Write basic SQL update scripts to support broker requests
- Work with documented APIs (Postman-level) to support integrations
- Support UAT and testing ahead of go-live
- Manage several concurrent broker projects at varying stages
Skills & Experience
- Background in insurance broking or underwriting is highly valued — ideally someone who has worked hands-on within a brokerage or underwriting agency
- Comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously with competing timelines
- Solid workshop facilitation and requirements-gathering skills
- Practical understanding of policy lifecycle, claims and billing workflows
- SQL, and the ability to read and interpret JSON/XML
- Exposure to platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek or similar PAS environments is beneficial but not essential
- A technical mindset without needing deep development experience — this suits a BA, implementation consultant or operations-minded broking professional over a traditional developer
Why Apply
- Genuine ownership of broker relationships and project delivery, not a back-office or coordination role
- Join at the ground floor of a major platform transformation, with real influence over how it's rolled out
- Small, close-knit professional services team with a hands-on, no-bloat culture
- Initial 18-month fixed-term engagement with a clear intent to convert to permanent subject to performance & budget
- Competitive salary package, negotiable depending on experience
