Product Manager | Federal Government Program
12 Month Contract + 2 x 12 Month Extension Options EL2 Equivalent Opportunity Remote/Flexible Working Arrangement Baseline Security Clearance Required (or ability to obtain)
We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to join a major Federal Government transformation program focused on delivering impactful digital and business capability improvements.
This role sits within a high performing transformation environment where products are defined as end to end value streams. You will work closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams and senior leaders to implement new initiatives, enhance existing capabilities and drive outcomes that deliver value to users and the organisation.
About the Role
As a Product Manager, you will act as the key link between business and delivery teams, helping shape product direction, prioritise investment decisions and ensure solutions balance user needs, business outcomes and delivery feasibility.
You will lead product discovery, roadmap development and prioritisation activities while supporting the successful delivery of strategic initiatives across complex business and technology environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business owners to implement new initiatives and improve existing products and services
- Develop a deep understanding of business processes, user needs and enabling technology platforms
- Identify and prioritise opportunities to improve both technology and non technology capabilities
- Maintain and manage product backlogs, roadmaps and prioritisation frameworks
- Lead discovery, analysis and refinement activities to define solutions and desired outcomes
- Work collaboratively with Product Owners and multidisciplinary teams to deliver business value
- Drive stakeholder alignment and facilitate decision making across complex environments
- Monitor product delivery progress, manage risks and communicate status updates to stakeholders
- Support strategic planning activities and contribute to agency wide transformation initiatives
- Promote continuous improvement and shared capability development across product portfolios
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a Product Manager within large and complex organisations
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate organisational priorities into product outcomes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in agile and product led environments
- Strong product planning, roadmap management and prioritisation capabilities
- Experience conducting user centred discovery and problem solving activities
- Ability to make evidence based decisions using data, research and business insights
- Solid understanding of systems, technology delivery and data driven environments
- Experience managing competing priorities and navigating organisational complexity
- Government, regulatory or highly governed industry experience will be highly regarded
Contract Details
- Start Date: August 2026
- Initial Contract: 12 months
- Extension Options: 2 x 12 months
- Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
- Location: Flexible and remote working arrangements available
- Onsite Expectations: Approximately 2 days per week, with attendance at quarterly planning events as required
- Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance
