An exciting prospect is available for a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Engineer to join a leading automotive engineering team supporting the development and validation of next-generation vehicle technologies.
Working within a highly collaborative environment, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating and executing HIL testing activities across a range of vehicle systems including ADAS, Infotainment, HMI and display technologies. This position offers exposure to cutting-edge vehicle development programs and the opportunity to work closely with local and international engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Development Engineers to capture and assess test requests
- Develop and coordinate HIL test plans to support program delivery timelines
- Liaise with local and offshore validation teams to schedule and monitor test execution
- Review test progress, identify issues and support resolution activities
- Execute manual test scenarios for issue investigation and root cause analysis
- Analyse and post-process test results to improve facility performance and testing methodologies
- Work directly with feature owners and validation teams to maintain testing throughput
HIL Facility Development & Support
- Support the introduction of new subsystem test facilities and methodologies
- Contribute to testing strategies for ADAS, infotainment, HMI and display technologies
- Partner with vehicle validation teams to identify opportunities for migrating physical vehicle testing into HIL environments
- Propose innovative test environments, mechatronic solutions and execution strategies
Facility Build & Integration
- Assist with identifying and sourcing vehicle components required for test rig builds
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of components
- Support HIL hardware build, integration and debugging activities
- Configure systems, load software, perform diagnostics and establish test environments
- Maintain HIL facility equipment, workstations and dSPACE simulator infrastructure
About You
You are a technically curious engineer who enjoys problem-solving, testing complex systems and working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics and communication protocols
- Experience supporting ADAS, infotainment or vehicle electronics development programs
- Background in electronics, mechatronics, validation or automotive testing
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging electrical or mechatronic systems
- Ability to interpret vehicle wiring schematics and system architectures
- Understanding of vehicle communication networks including CAN, LIN and Ethernet
- Familiarity with Windows-based engineering environments
- Exposure to Python or scripting methodologies
- Knowledge of IP configuration, connected devices and network setup
- Understanding of software development principles and version control systems such as SVN
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across local and offshore teams
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or related Engineering discipline
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing environments
- Exposure to dSPACE simulation platforms
