An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Production Engineer to join our client’s team, a well-established industrial manufacturer based in Welshpool. This ongoing assignment offers the chance to work in a large-scale production workplace where you'll play a key role in improving operational performance, supporting technical excellence and driving continuous improvement.

About the Role
Reporting to the Operations team, you'll be responsible for supporting day-to-day production activities, identifying process improvements, investigating operational issues and ensuring manufacturing targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Working collaboratively with production, maintenance and quality teams, you'll provide technical support across the manufacturing operation while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and optimise daily production activities to maximise efficiency and meet operational targets.
- Analyse production data to identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste and enhance productivity.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement projects.
- Provide technical support to production teams by troubleshooting equipment, process and operational issues.
- Monitor manufacturing performance and recommend improvements to equipment utilisation, workflow and production planning.
- Lead investigations into incidents, near misses and equipment failures using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions to improve safety and operational reliability.
- Conduct workplace risk assessments and contribute to maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Partner with quality teams to ensure products consistently meet customer and compliance requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, performance metrics and operational improvement recommendations.
About You You will be a hands-on engineer who enjoys working closely with production teams and delivering practical solutions.
You'll ideally have
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Civil Engineering.
- 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing, industrial processing or heavy engineering setting.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and deliver practical solutions.
- Experience leading safety investigations and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across multiple departments.
- A proactive, safety-first approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
Desirable
- Experience within heavy industry, building products, industrial manufacturing or processing environments.
- Formal training in Incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis or WHS systems.
- Exposure to automated production equipment and plant operations.
