This Is not Just Another Financial Controller Role.
Homes & Granny Flats is one of Australia's fastest-growing residential construction businesses.
In just a short period, we have established ourselves across the Eastern Seaboard and we are now preparing for our next stage of growth, becoming a national business.
We are looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys building systems that scale, and wants to play a key role in shaping the future of our business.
This is a rare opportunity to join our executive leadership team and grow into the Chief Financial Officer role as the company continues to expand.
About the Role
Working directly with the Directors and Executive Team, this is a hands on leadership position where you will oversee every aspect of the finance function while helping drive commercial performance across the business.
You will be equally comfortable preparing board reports, managing cash flow, improving systems, and working alongside operational leaders to ensure the business continues to grow profitably.
You will also mentor a small finance team while helping build the financial infrastructure required to support national expansion, including the opportunity to implement systems, automation, and best practice from the ground up.
Your Responsibilities
Lead the company's finance function across multiple entities.
Deliver accurate monthly management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Manage cash flow, working capital and banking relationships.
Develop financial models that support business growth and expansion.
Partner with operational leaders to improve project profitability and commercial performance.
Drive financial controls, governance, and compliance.
Oversee payroll,
taxation, statutory reporting, and audit requirements.
Monitor inventory, manufacturing costs, and asset management across multiple facilities.
Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve reporting.
Build and develop a high-performing finance team as the business grows.
Qualifications
CA or CPA qualification.
Extensive experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Finance Leader.
Proven experience within the residential construction, manufacturing, or building industry (essential).
Strong commercial acumen and a genuine understanding of project based construction businesses.
Experience leading finance in a rapidly growing or scaling organisation.
Advanced forecasting, budgeting, and financial modelling skills.
Strong experience using Xero and up-to-date financial systems.
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
A proactive, hands on approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves.
Nice to have but not Essential
Experience supporting multi-site operations.
Exposure to manufacturing or modular construction.
Experience implementing finance systems and process improvements.
Inventory, fleet and equipment management experience.
Worked within a business that has expanded nationally.
