Founded in 1952, Paspaley is a diverse group of companies. Whilst its core business is pearling, including pearl production, wholesale and retail, it also has extensive involvement in the aviation industry, the rural industry and commercial property.

Paspaley Pearling Company are looking for a QHSE Coordinator to work specifically in our pearling business unit. The role will predominantly be located on site at our marine engineering workshop in Frances Bay, Darwin, servicing our fleet (vessel) operations.

This role will require the successful candidate to have the flexibility to travel on vessels or to remote work sites from time to time, sometimes at very short notice.

About the role

By working closely, with the WHS Advisor – PPG, the objective will be to ensure Paspaley complies with QHSE standards and continue to develop and enhance our strong QHSE culture (a journey of continuous improvement). The successful applicant will administer integrated management systems (like ISO9001, 14001, and 45001), track incidents and audits, and maintain compliance records. Whilst bridging the gap between management and employees at the coal face in terms of QHSE.

Core Responsibilities:

- Systems Administration: Managing software and documentation for risk assessments, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and competency matrices
- Development & Implementation: Develop and implement QHSE Policies, Processes and document control procedures to ensure record keeping is in line with relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
- Engage with regulators to support business requirements.
- Compliance & Audits:



Coordinating internal and external audits, tracking corrective actions to closure, and maintaining governance registers.
- Incident Management: Assisting with incident investigations, hazard reporting, and identifying safety trends.
- Training & Onboarding: Overseeing staff inductions, contractor prequalifications, and maintaining compliance and training records.
- Culture & Communication: Promoting safety awareness, facilitating safety committee meetings, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across our pearling business.

Skills & experience:

- Qualifications: Minimum Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (WHS/OHS) or Quality Management (or currently undertaking).
- Experience: 3+ years in HSE, quality, or similar coordinator roles and the Knowledge or ability to learn ISO & QA System Management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with document management systems (e.g., SharePoint) and specific QHSE/WHS software and with the Knowledge or ability to learn ISO & QA System Management.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, highly organized, and excellent cross-team communication abilities especially written and verbal communication.
- Marine engineering or construction Industry experience would be highly desirable.
