The Opportunity - Ranger, Great Sandy Marine Park Join our maritime operations team as a OO5 Ranger - Compliance and help manage the spectacular Great Sandy Marine Park, where no two days are ever the same. One day you could be leading on-water compliance operations; the next, responding to marine wildlife strandings or protecting culturally significant sites. What You'll Do Step into a leadership role where your impact is real and visible. You'll:
- Lead compliance and enforcement operations in the marine park,
protecting wildlife, habitats and sustainable use
- Educate and connect with the community, promoting responsible recreation and conservation
- Deliver hands-on conservation work, from pest and fire management to maintaining vital infrastructure like walking tracks, moorings and campgrounds
- Manage and inspire a small team, driving projects that support environmental and recreational outcomes
- Collaborate with agencies and stakeholders, including local communities and First Nations peoples
- Respond to emergencies, from bushfires to flood recovery works to marine animal strandings.
Collaborative & Innovative Culture Work alongside Traditional Owners and partner agencies including Department of Fisheries and Maritime Safety Queensland. Contribute ideas that improve safety, efficiency and environmental outcomes. We're Looking For a Natural Leader Who
- Has strong experience in compliance, enforcement
- Conservation skills and experience in land and marine management
- Understands and applies legislative knowledge to identify offences and take compliance action in the Marine Park and adjacent National Parks
- Brings practical skills in maintenance, construction, and project delivery
- Communicates confidently with the public and diverse stakeholders
- Thrives in a team-focused, hands-on environment
- Is committed to supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
