Your new company A local government organisation is seeking a professional and community-focused Ranger to join its regulatory services team on a rolling contract basis. This is a excellent opportunity to work in a field-based role where you will help maintain safe, accessible and well-managed public spaces for residents, visitors and local businesses.
You will be part of a supportive team that values fair enforcement, strong customer service and positive community outcomes.
Your new role
As a Ranger, you will support local laws and compliance activities across the council area, with a strong focus on parking enforcement, public amenity and community safety. This is a full-time role working 38 hours per week, with opportunities to work weekends.
Your duties will include
- Undertaking patrols across streets, public spaces, school zones, business areas and parking facilities
- Monitoring compliance with parking requirements, signage, road rules and local procedures
- Responding to parking enquiries, complaints and service requests
- Educating the community on parking restrictions and local compliance requirements
- Issuing warnings, notices or infringements where appropriate
- Gathering evidence, taking photos, recording observations and maintaining accurate notes
- Preparing reports and documentation to support enforcement activity
- Managing challenging conversations with members of the public in a calm and professional manner
- Working independently in the field while supporting the wider regulatory services team
This role will suit someone who enjoys being active,
working outdoors and engaging with the community in a professional and respectful way.
What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- A current NSW Driver Licence
- Previous experience in ranger services, parking enforcement, compliance and investigations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly
- A calm, confident and professional approach to conflict resolution
- The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislation fairly
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
- Confidence using mobile devices, handheld technology or digital systems
- The ability to work independently and manage field-based duties
- A professional, ethical and community-focused approach
- The ability to complete relevant background and compliance checks as required
Previous local government experience or relevant regulatory services training will be highly regarded, but candidates with strong transferable skills and the right attitude are also encouraged to apply.
