Registered Nurse, Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser

Complete Skin Specialists in Sunbury, Victoria, is seeking an exceptional Registered Nurse to join our team for a fixed-term part-time maternity leave cover, working 30 hours per fortnight. Experience within dermatology, cosmetic, plastic surgery, day procedures or a specialist clinical setting would be highly regarded. This demanding but rewarding position will provide primary clinical support to Dr Belinda Welsh throughout her medical dermatology, cosmetic, surgical, laser and procedural practice.

The successful applicant will work closely with Dr Welsh to ensure consultations, procedures and treatment sessions are delivered safely, effectively and efficiently. While the role is primarily focused on supporting Dr Welsh, the successful applicant may also be required to assist other practitioners and the broader nursing team where operationally required.

Key responsibilities

The position will include, but is not limited to:

- Preparing patients, treatment rooms, equipment and documentation for consultations and procedures
- Reviewing appointment lists and anticipating clinical and treatment requirements
- Triaging patient appointments and clinical enquiries within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice
- Taking relevant patient histories and providing patient education and aftercare
- Supporting specialty dermatology consultations, skin checks and biologic reviews
- Assisting with minor surgery, excisions, biopsies, wound reviews and suture removal
- Providing wound and dressing management
- Preparing and administering local anaesthetic or applying topical anaesthetic where appropriately trained, authorised and directed
- Supporting CO2, Nordlys, Vbeam, Q-Switch, photodynamic therapy and other approved laser or light-based treatments
- Assisting with patient positioning, cooling,



comfort measures and smoke or plume extraction during procedures
- Taking consistent clinical photographs and securely linking images to the patient’s medical record
- Escorting and preparing patients for consultation and providing Dr Welsh with a concise clinical handover
- Observing, documenting and escalating changes in a patient’s condition or response to treatment
- Completing accurate clinical notes, treatment checklists and consent documentation
- Ensuring clinical and treatment areas are appropriately prepared, cleaned and restocked
- Cleaning, packaging and sterilising instruments in accordance with infection prevention requirements
- Assisting with cosmetic injectable and hyperhidrosis treatment sessions
- Drawing up and preparing injectable treatments where appropriately trained, authorised and directed
- Assisting with cold-chain monitoring, clinical stock management, expiry checks and safety checks
- Undertaking related clinical and administrative duties as directed by the Nurse Team Leader or Practice Management

About you

To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Current CPR certification
- A current satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain them
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation and infection prevention skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build genuine rapport with patients
- A calm, warm and patient-focused approach




- Solid attention to detail and the ability to anticipate the requirements of a busy specialist clinic
- The ability to problem-solve, prioritise competing demands and remain composed in a high-volume and demanding clinical environment
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, skin cancer medicine, laser treatments, minor surgical procedures, wound care or clinical photography would be highly regarded. Experience using Genie or similar clinical software would also be advantageous. Personality fit, communication style and the ability to develop a strong working relationship with Dr Welsh will be important considerations for this appointment.
