Our client is a large, privately backed services organisation with a national footprint spanning hundreds of operating sites across Australia. The business operates through a multi‑entity, multi‑brand structure and services a broad customer base across metropolitan, regional and remote locations.
The role
This is a contract opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Brisbane‑based Group Finance team. Reporting into the Financial Controller and CFO, this role plays a critical part in supporting the technical accounting, month‑end close and control environment across a multi‑entity group.
Operating within a fast‑moving, transformation‑focused workplace, you will work closely with finance leaders and broader stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls and continuous improvement across finance processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals and prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities, and variance analysis
- Payroll adjustments, with a solid understanding of payroll nuances including payroll tax and PAYG treatment differences
- Calculating commissions and contractor payments across the group
- Prepaid income and income in advance
- Intercompany transfers
- Assisting with audit requirements, statutory reporting and external compliance deliverables
- Supporting the review and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures
- Contributing to ongoing improvements in financial reporting, controls and documentation
- Operating as a collaborative, hands‑on team member in a high‑growth setting
About you
You are a technically capable and detail‑driven finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving environment. Comfortable to hit the ground running, you bring a team‑first mindset and take pride in delivering accurate, timely outcomes while adapting to changing priorities.
You are proactive in your communication, confident engaging with stakeholders, and motivated by the opportunity to be part of a finance function undergoing meaningful transformation.

Skills and experience
- Proven experience in a Financial or Senior Financial Accountant or similar technical accounting role
- Strong understanding of month‑end close, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting
- Experience supporting statutory reporting and audit processes
- Strong Excel capability and confidence managing cashflow forecasts
- Experience working with ERP systems and particularly Xero
- CA or CPA qualification
