About the Role
We are currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team.
This role focuses on providing person-centred support while building a respectful, professional, and consistent relationship with the participant to promote independence, wellbeing, and community participation.
Participant Profile
We are currently seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide support to a participant with psychosocial disability and mental health support needs.
The successful candidate will be committed to delivering person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing, recovery, and community participation. You will understand the importance of respecting each participant's individual preferences, choices, and goals while building a professional, consistent, and trusting support relationship.
Support Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and alternate Saturdays
Approximately 6-hour shifts.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in supporting the participant to live independently and achieve their goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing person-centred support in accordance with the participant's goals, preferences and support plan.
- Assisting with personal care tasks, including showering, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene where required.
- Assisting with meal planning and meal preparation.
- Supporting the participant to develop and maintain daily living skills and routines.
- Supporting community access, including appointments, shopping, recreational activities and social outings.
- Assisting with light household duties, including cleaning, changing bed linen and maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment.
- Encouraging independence through prompting, coaching and skill development rather than completing tasks on the participant's behalf wherever possible.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and progress notes.
- Working in accordance with Marble Care's policies, procedures and the NDIS Practice Standards.
- Maintaining professional boundaries and providing respectful, participant-centred support at all times.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Robust communication and active listening skills.
- A respectful, reliable and professional approach.
- Patience, empathy and sound professional judgement.
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- The ability to work independently and follow participant support plans.
- A genuine commitment to promoting participant choice, independence and dignity.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs and/or psychosocial disability.
- Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities, chronic pain or mobility limitations.
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health or a related qualification.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Access to a reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
- Experience supporting participants with both psychosocial and physical support needs.
- An interest in supporting participants with creative hobbies, community participation and meaningful activities.
