Company Description The Industry School (formerly the AITC) is an independent school that supports young people in identifying their passions and pursuing careers through apprenticeships and traineeships. Its curriculum allows Years 10–12 students to split their time between senior schooling and industry-based learning, providing practical experience alongside academic progress.

In 2023, 98% of graduates successfully completed their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), demonstrating strong educational outcomes. With six campuses across South East Queensland, including the Gold Coast, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Ipswich, and Brisbane, the school is committed to a deliberately different approach to education.

The Industry

School is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 31775), offering nationally recognized vocational training.

Role Description The Relief Teacher role is a temporary, on-site position based at The Industry School’s Gold Coast campus. The person in this role will deliver classroom instruction aligned with the school’s curriculum, supervise and support students in Years 10–12, and ensure continuity of learning when regular teaching staff are unavailable.

Daily tasks include preparing and delivering lessons, managing classroom behavior, monitoring student progress, and supporting students who are balancing school and industry commitments.

Teacher will collaborate with other staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment, follow school policies and procedures, and complete basic administrative tasks such as attendance and reporting.

Qualifications

- Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons, adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning needs, and support senior students transitioning between school and industry.
- Strong classroom management skills, including the ability to create a positive learning workplace, uphold school behavior expectations, and respond calmly and professionally to challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, collaborate with colleagues, and maintain constructive relationships with families and industry partners.
- Organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple classes, keep accurate records, meet reporting requirements, and follow school policies and procedures.
- Current teaching registration (or eligibility for registration) in Queensland, with appropriate secondary teaching qualifications.
- Experience or interest in vocational education, applied learning, or working with students engaged in apprenticeships or traineeships is highly regarded.
- Current Working With Children clearance (e.g., Blue Card in Queensland) and commitment to child safety and inclusive education.
