Research Peace Research The greatest threats to humanity — war and genocide, weapons of mass destruction, ethnic and religious hostility — demand a responsible commitment to interdisciplinary research. Kroc Institute faculty and fellows bring multiple perspectives and research methods to bear on the world's most pressing issues. Kroc Institute research ranges from studies relevant to policy and practice to the defining of fundamental theoretical concepts of peace and justice.

Faculty have made substantial contributions to the understanding of ethnic and religious conflict and peacebuilding and the practices of strategic peacebuilding and conflict transformation. They have published widely on economic sanctions and other instruments of nonviolent social and political change,



illuminating the dynamics of international institutions and networks that seek to restrain violence and advance human rights and justice. Major research initiatives are underway to strengthen peace processes and peace accords, understand the roots of war and violent conflict, and contribute to the development of a theology of just peace.
