Position Overview: Kensington Produce is a family-owned Australian business with over 70 years of experience supplying premium equine feed, forage and nutritional solutions to the racing, breeding and performance horse industries. From its purpose-built facility in Auburn, the company manufactures and distributes high-quality feed products, working closely with Australian farmers and leading trainers to deliver exceptional quality, consistency and service. As a Fitter (General) at Kensington Produce, you will be responsible for fitting, assembling, maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment used in the production and processing of equine feed.

The role involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications, diagnosing and rectifying mechanical faults, carrying out preventative maintenance, and ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to support reliable manufacturing operations while maintaining the high standards of quality for which Kensington Produce is recognised.

Responsibilities and Tasks

- Interpret machinery manuals, equipment layouts and maintenance instructions to determine the correct installation, repair and assembly procedures for feed manufacturing machinery.
- Assemble and install mechanical components,



fabricated metal sections and production equipment to support the efficient operation of equine feed processing systems.
- Inspect machinery parts using precision measuring devices to verify dimensional accuracy, alignment, and operational integrity before commissioning.
- Set up and adjust mechanical equipment, cutting tools and machine controls to achieve optimal performance and consistent production quality.
- Machine, shape and modify metal components through drilling, milling, grinding, boring and related processes to meet required specifications.
- Install, replace and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic pipework, fittings and associated systems to ensure reliable operation of manufacturing equipment.
- Identify mechanical faults through systematic inspection and testing, then carry out repairs or component replacements to minimise production downtime.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, equipment servicing and mechanical overhauls to maximise machinery reliability and extend operational life.
- Assist with the installation, relocation and commissioning of new production machinery and mechanical systems within the manufacturing facility while ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, report equipment performance issues, and ensure all fitting and repair activities comply with workplace safety standards and Kensington Produce's quality assurance procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

- Relevant qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Fitter (General).
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience assembling, maintaining and repairing industrial machinery.
- High attention to detail and workmanship.

Salary

The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 - $85,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
