Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS) is a proud, community-controlled organisation that has been supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across North East Victoria and the Southern Riverina for over 25 years. AWAHS's work is grounded in culture, respect and connection supporting stronger health wellbeing and futures for the Aboriginal community.

- We are looking for a compassionate and community minded person to join AWAHS as an Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer (ADLO) - a role that truly makes a difference.

About the Role

As an ADLO, you will walk alongside individuals and families, building strong, respectful relationships and supporting them to access the NDIS and other services. You will help guide people through the process, from understanding eligibility through to connecting with the right supports.

- This role is about more than systems, it’s about trust, advocacy and culturally safe support , working closely with community and services to reduce barriers and strengthen outcomes.

You will be:

- Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access and navigate the NDIS
- Building strong partnerships with participants, families and community
- Working collaboratively with local services, stakeholders and community groups




- Providing culturally respectful outreach and guidance
- Empowering people to understand their plans and achieve their goals

About you:

- Experienced with supporting people with disability and their families
- Ability to build empowering partnerships with individuals facing complex needs
- Possess solid understanding of the NDS, relevant legislation and community services (or a willingness to grow your knowledge)
- Confident in navigating the NDS and helping people understand and make the most of their plans
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work alongside Aboriginal community and key stakeholders
- Knowledge of health issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- A current driver’s licence (essential for this role)
- This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. This requirement is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
