Factory Fit-out Project Manager - Food & Grocery Manufacturing
Lead Construction Delivery for Australia's best-known food & grocery manufacturers
Most construction coordinators and project managers work for contractors or construction firms. You'll work for an engineering consultancy - which means you're not just building to spec, you're building to solve problems.
Working directly with RMR's senior engineers and client FMCG manufacturers, you'll own the factory fit-out delivery for complex facilities where production standards and build-ability are as important as budget and timeline. One month: a ready-meal facility, the next: a pharmaceutical grade facility or automated distribution centre. You'll see variety that most construction PM's never touch.
The Role
You'll report to the Project Delivery Lead to manage complete factory fit-out delivery, working alongside our design engineers and PM's from design phase through commissioning and start-up.
What you'll own:
Factory fit-out and design oversight - Review design with RMR's design engineers and consultants to lock in GMP standards before construction begins
Design problem solving - Interface between our engineering team and external architectural and engineering design consultants to resolve site constraints and ensure build-ability without compromising design intent.
Builder & contractor management - site works interfacing and oversight, schedule accountability, quality enforcement. Representing RMR, and therefore our client, you're the voice that says "this doesn't meet spec" and makes it stick.
Compliance & approvals - council lodgements, support regulatory approvals (e.g. interface with RBS or PCAs), quality & safety compliance signoffs.
Budget & change control - Cost tracking, variation management and scope discipline
Communication - providing clear, structured updates on project progress,
risks and mitigation actions.
Why this role exists: Our project engineers must focus on operational, process and utilities systems - not chasing builders and fit-out design consultants. You're the firewall that lets them do that.
What We Need
Must-have:
2+ years in factory fit-out design, execution and delivery
Track record working in a team environment on and off site with consultants, builders and contractors
Working knowledge of AS and NCC
Comfortable reading engineering drawings and spotting compliance gaps
Client-facing confidence - you translate between builders and our engineers
Confidence identifying risks, solving problems and escalating where needed
Nice-to-have:
Food & grocery, cold chain, or similar industry experience
Experience with council approval processes in Victoria, New South Wales and WA
Budget & timeline management
Familiarity with construction logistics (site layout, delivery scheduling)
Project management tools (we work across multiple platforms and AI tools)
