Our client is a proudly Australian, market leading retail and wholesale business with a loyal customer base and a growing store and e-commerce network in the sporting goods and apparel space. Entering the next phase of growth, they are looking for an experienced Retail Finance Manager to lead financial planning, analysis and controls across their retail operations.
This is a hands-on business partnering role for an accounting professional who understands retail — someone who can translate numbers into decisions, partner confidently with commercial and operations leaders and bring rigour to forecasting and margin and stock management across a multi-channel network.

The Role
As Retail Finance Manager, you'll partner closely with commercial, retail operations and supply chain teams to drive profitable growth and ensure sound financial governance across all retail channels.
What You'll Own
- Budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for retail sales, margin and operating costs
- Monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentary on retail performance
- Financial modelling to support pricing, promotional and range decisions
- KPI tracking and reporting — sell-through, stock turn, gross margin, like-for-like sales
- Business partnering with retail/commercial leadership,
supporting decisions with clear financial insight
- Business cases and ROI analysis for new store openings, channel expansion and wholesale/retail partnerships
- Inventory planning, stock valuation and working capital management with supply chain
- Financial controls across retail revenue recognition, stock and cost of sales
- Balance sheet reconciliations relevant to retail — inventory, accruals, rebates
- Statutory audit support and compliance with accounting standards
- Risk management around stock shrinkage, markdowns and discounting
- Line management and development of finance analysts/assistants
- Continuous improvement in reporting systems, automation and data accuracy
What You'll Bring
- Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven local experience in a retail, FMCG or consumer goods finance role
- Strong Excel/financial modelling skills and experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or similar)
- Track record managing budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
- Experience in sporting goods, apparel or similar branded consumer goods highly regarded
- Exposure to wholesale and DTC/e-commerce retail models a plus
- Familiarity with inventory management and demand planning
- Line management experience
- Full working rights – PR or Citizen
