GENERAL MANAGER - RETAIL

Brisbane, Queensland | National Retail Network | Full-time, On-site

KickAss Products is an Australian-owned success story specialising in 12V, off-grid power, camping and outdoor products.

We have grown into a substantial national business with 12 retail stores across Australia, a major online presence and an ambitious growth strategy. We are now looking for an experienced General Manager - Retail to lead the performance, development and continued expansion of our retail network.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the executive leadership team, you will have overall responsibility for the performance of our Australian retail business.

This is a genuine senior leadership position with the authority, resources and accountability to shape the future of our retail network.

You will lead our retail management team and store leaders, establish transparent standards and performance expectations, improve the customer experience and ensure every store operates as part of one consistent, high-performing national network.

This is not a passive reporting role. We are looking for a visible, commercially minded and hands-on leader who enjoys being in the stores, developing people, solving problems and turning strategy into measurable results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop and execute the national retail strategy and operating plan
- Take ownership of retail sales, profitability, budgets and agreed performance targets
- Drive improvement across sales conversion, average order value, gross margin, labour efficiency, customer experience and store profitability
- Lead, coach and hold retail leaders and store managers accountable for performance
- Build strong leadership capability,



succession planning and career development across the retail network
- Establish consistent operating standards, performance scorecards and management rhythms
- Strengthen product knowledge, sales capability and customer service through structured retail training
- Spend meaningful time in stores understanding customers, supporting teams and identifying opportunities
- Lead new store openings, relocations, refits and other retail growth initiatives
- Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Product, Finance, Customer Service and other business functions
- Turn customer and store feedback into practical business improvements
- Ensure stores maintain high standards of presentation, safety, compliance and stock management
- Build a culture of ownership, urgency, accountability and continuous improvement

ABOUT YOU

You will ideally have

- Significant senior leadership experience within a multi-site retail business
- Experience leading a sizeable retail network, ideally at General Manager, Head of Retail, National Retail Manager, State Manager or Regional Operations level
- Direct responsibility for retail sales, profitability and operating performance
- A strong understanding of retail performance metrics and the ability to turn data into action
- A demonstrated ability to develop leaders and build accountable, high-performing teams
- Experience improving store standards,



sales capability and customer experience
- The confidence to make decisions and address performance issues directly
- A practical, hands-on leadership style combined with strong strategic and commercial judgement
- The ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial and growth-focused business
- The flexibility to travel regularly throughout Australia

Experience in automotive, outdoor, electrical, hardware, 4WD, camping or other speciality retail would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Leadership ability, commercial performance and cultural fit are more important.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL The position is primarily based on-site at our Acacia Ridge head office in Brisbane. Regular travel to stores across Australia will be an important part of the role.
