Software Engineer | Python, C++ & Front-Office Trading | Hong Kong or Sydney

I’m working with a leading global proprietary trading firm that’s hiring multiple Software Engineers across Hong Kong and Sydney. You’ll build business-critical trading applications, risk tools, and automation used by APAC desks across multiple markets and asset classes.

Working directly with traders and quantitative researchers, you’ll solve fast-moving challenges across positions, PnL, risk, market data, and the wider trade lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Build production-grade trading and risk applications using Python and C++.
- Develop tools for position management, intraday risk, reporting, and research.
- Automate trading workflows, reconciliation, and operational controls.
- Deliver data solutions spanning multiple markets, exchanges, and asset classes.
- Adapt global platforms for APAC trading requirements.
- Partner directly with traders and researchers to turn ideas into practical solutions.
- Own systems from design and development through deployment and production support.

What We’re Looking For

- Strong Python development skills with meaningful C++ experience.
- Approximately 1–7 years of software engineering experience.




- Front-office technology experience within a trading firm, hedge fund, investment bank, or market maker.
- Solid foundations in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with financial data, real-time systems, or analytical platforms.
- The confidence to work directly with traders and understand commercial priorities.
- Strong communication skills, curiosity, and an ownership-driven mindset.

Nice to Have

- Knowledge of positions, PnL, risk, orders, or market data.
- Experience with kdb+/q or similar analytical databases.
- Exposure to event-driven systems, workflow orchestration, or CI/CD.
- Experience building dashboards or trader-facing tools.
