Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria – Melbourne VIC

The Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria (VPRBV) is an independent statutory authority. Our role is to protect the public and promote animal health and welfare by regulating veterinary practitioners in Victoria. We register veterinary practitioners and oversee professional standards of conduct and practice. This includes managing complaints and investigating concerns about practitioner conduct.

The Investigations Team

We are looking for an Investigator to join our Investigations Team on a 12-month contract. This is a full-time position; however, part time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Responsibilities include leading investigations into complaints, writing investigation reports, drafting allegations for hearings and reasons for decision.

This is a unique opportunity for veterinarians interested in applying their clinical knowledge in a regulatory setting, or law professionals looking to apply their skills in a specialised regulatory environment.

Duties

- Drafting a range of documents arising from administrative and enforcement decisions including investigation reports, outcome letters, briefing papers, allegations and particulars for hearings and reasons for decision.
- Communicating with complainants, practitioners and other relevant stakeholders.

- Supporting the VPRBV board and fellow team members in the interpretation and analysis of information as it relates to the Board's regulatory duties under the Veterinary Practice Act Vic 1997.
- Identifying, interpreting and applying relevant legislation throughout the investigation and compliance process.
- Assist in preparing for and coordinating formal and informal hearings.

Knowledge and experience

While experience in regulation or enforcement is ideal, candidates with backgrounds in veterinary science or law are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential skills

- Strong analytical and report writing abilities
- Analytical thinking
- Organisation and case management
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position

Applicants must be eligible to obtain a baseline security clearance and be willing to undergo police checks and other pre-employment screening requirements. Shortlisted candidates may also be required to participate in a psychometric assessment as part of the recruitment process.
