We are seeking a highly experienced S26 Supervisor (Civil Works) with a strong, hands-on background in earthmoving and civil construction to join MIB Projects in Newman, Western Australia on an 8/6 roster.

Please note: Practical machine operating experience is strictly essential for this role. You must know the gear to lead the team.

Reporting to the Civil Works Management team, you will oversee heavy civil and earthmoving operations, manage teams, and ensure all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards. This is a strategic position within our mining and resources operations, where your practical earthmoving knowledge will directly drive project delivery and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise Earthmoving & Civil Crews: Manage teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of assigned earthmoving and civil tasks.
- Leverage Operating Experience: Use your practical knowledge of heavy machinery to optimize plant utilization, guide operators, and ensure best-practice machine operation.
- Schedule & Monitor: Oversee daily work schedules, ensuring earthworks and civil projects remain on track to meet tight deadlines.
- Lead Safety: Conduct toolbox meetings and safety briefings, specifically addressing heavy equipment and earthmoving hazards.
- Quality Control: Inspect works to verify compliance with civil design specifications, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate records of work completed, labour hours, and heavy equipment usage.
- Hazard Management: Identify and report on potential safety hazards, implementing immediate corrective actions.
- Coordination: Liaise with project managers and other supervisors to coordinate activities, resolve operational issues, and manage equipment/material inventory.




- Team Development: Support the recruitment, induction, and training of civil works personnel and operators.
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all environmental, health, and safety regulations and site-specific requirements.

What We're Looking For

- ESSENTIAL: Extensive, hands-on machine operating experience in a civil or mining environment (e.g., excavators, dozers, graders, loaders).
- ESSENTIAL: A deeply rooted background in earthmoving and heavy civil works.
- Supervisory Experience: Minimum 5+ years' supervisory experience specifically focused on earthmoving, civil construction, or surface mining operations.
- Qualifications: Formal S26 (Mine Supervisor) or equivalent supervisory certification relevant to civil works.
- Leadership: Demonstrated people management skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and mentor machinery operators and civil crews.
- Safety Focus: Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance in the mining and resources sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings and specifications.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and the workforce.
- Systems Knowledge: Computer literacy and experience with relevant project management or scheduling software.
- Site Readiness: Physical fitness and the ability to work in remote mining environments, along with a current driver's licence and willingness to work shift patterns as required.
