Safety Coordinator | 6 Month Temporary Assignment | South Australian State Government
Are you an experienced safety professional who thrives on building relationships, influencing positive outcomes, and helping organisations create safer workplaces?
A South Australian State Government agency is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Safety Coordinator to join their team for a 6-month temporary assignment.
In this rewarding role, you will work closely with businesses and stakeholders to improve workplace health and safety practices, build capability, and deliver practical solutions that support safer outcomes across South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
As the Safety Coordinator, you will:
- Develop strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to encourage positive behavioural change and a proactive safety culture.
- Represent and promote the organisation in a professional and positive manner.
- Provide practical workplace assistance to help organisations effectively manage work health and safety risks.
- Demonstrate and educate customers on safe systems of work and best-practice safety approaches.
- Collaborate, negotiate, and influence a diverse range of stakeholders to improve health and safety outcomes across priority industries.
- Analyse business performance against industry safety trends and provide practical recommendations for improvement.
- Contribute to the design and development of innovative safety tools, resources, and initiatives.
- Support customers in understanding their legislative rights and responsibilities under work health and safety legislation.
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure activities align with business objectives and departmental requirements.
About You To be successful, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in work health and safety, risk management, compliance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and contemporary safety practices.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to influence behavioural change and deliver practical safety solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience working within government, regulatory, advisory, or customer-focused environments will be highly regarded.
