JOST Australia Pty. Ltd is a global leader in manufacturing and producer of safety critical products and components for commercial vehicles, our product range includes couplings, axles, suspension units, trailer systems, and waste-handling equipment. We are seeking an experienced Safety & Quality Manager to provide technical support and expertise across our Australian and Recent Zealand operations.
Due to the nature of the work and the industry, this role is an onsite position based at our National Head Office in the Melbourne suburb of Laverton North. Operations: About the role
- Establish and maintain Quality Assurance processes and checks that deliver Conformity of Production and meet the requirements of ISO9001.
- Implement process improvements using Lean methodologies to improve safety, quality and efficiency.
- Conduct root-cause analyses of product quality issues, supply infractions and warranty claims.
- Advise the Production & Warehouse Operations team on any changes required for assembly or production processes to ensure compliance to ISO9001 & ISO45001.
- Maintain awareness of current industry needs and expectations for safety and quality and through establishing relationships with the industry, associations and government bodies in the fields of heavy transport manufacture,
transport infrastructure and logistics.
Technical:
- Work with Training Manager and JOST Team to deliver training compliance for the JOST Team and JOST customers.
Financial:
- Oversee Quality, Safety and Compliance cost centre and costs associated with this portfolio.
- Assist in preparing annual financial budgets/forecasts and providing explanations for variances.
Risk & HSE:
- Coordinate or conduct yearly internal and external audits.
- Support Branch Managers in maintaining compliance to the ISO9001 and ISO45001 standards and preparing their sites for internal and external audits.
- Maintain regular contact with Quality Managers at Suppliers & Customer, to ensure proper investigations and findings are reported (NCR & 8D reports).
- Ensure corrective actions are identified and completed for all audit non-conformances.
- Manage the reporting of safety events and maintaining accurate documentation related to safety management (Donesafe).
- Comply with JOST’s Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Health, Safety and Environment management systems, including statutory obligations.
Must have experience
- Tertiary qualification related to the role or in a relevant field.
- Certification or qualification in Quality and/or Safety Management Systems.
- Qualifications as an Internal Auditor for ISO9001 and ISO45001.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian and international manufacturing standards.
- Demonstrated history within industrial environments.
- Training in structured root cause analysis, 5S, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Management of required reporting, compliance and corporate governance with strong Microsoft user knowledge.
We are looking for
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments including sales, production, and R&D.;
It’s a bonus if you have
- Experience working within the automotive sector is highly regarded.
- Background in hands-on product testing or field service.
- Previous experience with the Donesafe system
