The Role
Reporting to the Parks Officer – LandManagement and based in Mulgrave NSW, the primary purpose of this role is to supervise nursery staff and volunteers, collect seeds and maintain seeddatabase, while carrying out general nursery duties.
About You
You have Tertiary qualifications in Nursery Management or Conservationand Land Management, with experience as a supervisor with a background leading both staff and volunteers. You will have demonstrated experience in propagation, seed bank management and general nursery operations. along with knowledge of relevant environmental Legislations and Acts. you will be a champion for safety, ensuring the team are consistently operating under WHS protected work practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursery Managementor Conservation and Land Management and equivalent industry experience
- SoundKnowledge of native vegetation in the Sydney region
- Demonstratedexperience in propagation and seed bank management to flora bank guidelines
- Experiencein dealing with financial management/grant funding
- Demonstratedknowledge of Pesticide Act and other relevant environmental legislation ieWildlife Act
- Soundknowledge of plant and implements use, maintenance and safety
- Demonstratedexperience in general nursery operations
- Demonstratedexperience with small plant use and maintenance and nursery irrigation systems
- Demonstratedexperience in the supervision of staff and volunteers
- Knowledgeof Nursery Growers Industry Association Australia guidelines
- Experiencein pest and disease management
- Experiencein the use of computers including Microsoft office and other basic officeequipment
- Chemical Application Certificate
- First Aid Certification
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Work in NSW
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Successful applicants will be required toundergo background (police) checks and medical declaration
- Training and assessment certificate
- Landscape Certificate
- Conservation and Land Management certificate
- Knowledge of database systems, spreadsheet andinventory management
- Class MR Drivers Licence
