Genesis Christian College is seeking an experienced and highly organised Payroll Officer to join our dynamic Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a complex and rewarding payroll function while contributing to a Christ-centred learning setting that positively impacts the lives of over 1,500 students and their families.
About the role:
As our Payroll Officer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process across multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements, ensuring employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time.
This is a diverse and hands-on role that combines payroll expertise with broader finance administration responsibilities, requiring exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality and customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process for approx. 350 staff
- Processing timesheets, leave transactions and payroll adjustments
- Calculating back pays, termination payments and payroll reconciliations
- Preparing and processing employee superannuation payments
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreement
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records
- Responding to payroll enquiries from employees across the College
- Supporting the broader Finance team as required
- About You
You should be an experienced payroll professional who takes pride in accuracy, confidentiality and exceptional service. You enjoy working with people, solving problems, and ensuring every detail is correct.
To be successful, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience processing payroll, timesheets, leave and payroll adjustments
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality
- Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritise competing tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A positive, proactive and service-oriented attitude
- An active Christian faith
- Business and/or accounting qualifications
- Previous payroll experience within a school or not-for-profit organisation
- Experience using TASS
