About the Role
Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and making a positive difference in your local community?
Greater Hume Council is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Customer Relations Officer to join our team on a casual basis. This rewarding role combines customer service and library support, providing the opportunity to engage with community members while delivering high-quality services across a range of Council locations.
As one of the first points of contact for Council, you will play a key role in creating positive customer experiences by providing accurate information, responding to enquiries, and supporting access to Council and community services. You will also contribute to the day-to-day operations of Council libraries,
assisting with programs, activities and events that enhance community engagement.
This is a dynamic and varied role requiring a high level of flexibility, with shifts allocated according to operational requirements across Council's service centres and libraries in Culcairn, Henty, Holbrook and Jindera.
This position is offered on a casual basis, with the opportunity to work up to 35 hours per week, subject to availability and operational requirements.
Salary: $42.78 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus 12% Superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for Council enquiries, both in person and over the phone.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and provide accurate information to customers and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions using Council's customer relationship management systems.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to assist in resolving customer enquiries.
- Provide information and support relating to Services Australia, NSW TrainLink, Companion Animals, Riverina Regional Library services and other Council programs.
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of Council libraries, including customer support, programs, events and promotional activities.
- Contribute to reporting and administrative activities as required.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a solid commitment to customer service excellence.
- The ability to build positive relationships and provide professional assistance to a diverse range of customers.
- Experience delivering quality customer service in a busy and customer-focused environment.
- Well-developed computer, administration and organisational skills.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling cash transactions, maintaining records and preparing correspondence.
- A current Working with Children Check (Employee).
- A current National Police Check
- A current Australian Class C Driver Licence.
- The ability and willingness to travel between Council locations as required.
