The Role

We are looking for an experienced Health Safety Environment and Compliance Manager to lead the design and implementation of our Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance framework from the ground up, establishing contemporary governance systems, robust operational controls, and sustainable ways of working that embed safety into every aspect of the business.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Great Southern Fuel Supplies at a pivotal stage in our journey. We are building a stronger, more collaborative organisation with a genuine commitment to our people, safety, and continuous improvement.

As part of our team, you'll have the chance to make a meaningful impact by helping shape a positive safety culture, influencing the way we work, and contributing to the long-term success of a growing regional business. Key Responsibilities

Lead the transformation of the organisation's safety culture.

Establish and maintain consistent safety standards, governance frameworks, and communication processes across geographically dispersed regional depots.

Build robust frontline relationships and organisational trust.

Lead the design, implementation,

and continual improvement of an integrated Safety Management System (SMS).

Drive the digital transformation of HSE&C; systems.

Develop, implement, and govern consistent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Establish and oversee Critical Control Verification (CCV) and assurance programs for long-distance and remote heavy vehicle operations.

Manage Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (WAHVA) fatigue management schemes.

Provide strategic oversight of dangerous goods storage.

Establish and govern comprehensive asset integrity and statutory testing schedules.

Build, lead and develop a high-performing team to effectively deliver the HSE&C; function to the business.

About you:

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety (OHS), Risk Management, Logistics, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 5 years in HSEQ management, with proven experience overseeing remote, multi-site logistics operations.

Strong experience within the fuel transport industry, bulk haulage, dangerous goods transport, logistics or heavy vehicle operations.

Demonstrated success leading the transformation of safety culture within legacy blue-collar organisations, family-owned businesses, or other established operational environments, fostering sustainable behavioural change, leadership accountability, and a proactive approach to safety.

Expert-level knowledge of the WA Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations, Dangerous Goods Safety Act, and WAHVA guidelines.

Proven ability to navigate initial pushback from legacy workforces and confidently champion change.

Ability to travel to remote sites all over Western Australia, with flexibility required to support operational demands and mobilisation activities.
