Senior Manager, Curtin Sport and Recreation

About the Role
Curtin are seeking an experienced and values-driven leader who can continue to deliver and build on the existing strategy and direction of Curtin Sport and Recreation, while strengthening its contribution to a healthy, connected and thriving university community.
You will be a collaborative and engaging leader who places workplace culture, respect and leadership at the heart of your approach. You will have exceptional communication skills, and understand how sport, recreation, and community intersect. You will be a strong negotiator and have experience in prioritising portfolio outcomes in a complex operating environment. Above all else, you will understand and empower our purpose to create an environment that welcomes our community to participate in sport & recreation.
As the Senior Manager, Sport & Recreation you'll continue to deliver and build on the existing strategy and direction of Curtin Sport and Recreation and oversee the comprehensive management of our diverse offerings, including our fitness centre, sports clubs, social sports, events, and more. You'll lead a vibrant team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and safe experiences for our students, staff, and the wider community. Your role is crucial in balancing the commercial aspects with our mission to enhance student wellbeing, making sport & recreation an integral part of the Curtin experience.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Chart the course for Curtin Sport & Recreation, aligning with our broader university goals to enhance student life and wellbeing.
- Operational Excellence: Drive the operational management of our facilities and programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of service and customer satisfaction.
- Community and Partnership Building: Foster meaningful relationships within and beyond the university, enhancing our offerings and creating lasting benefits for our community.
- Financial Stewardship: Ensure the financial health of our operations, balancing revenue generation with the delivery of top-tier programs and services.
Selection Criteria
- Strategic leadership experience, with the ability to continue delivering an established strategy and identify opportunities for its ongoing growth and development.
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, with experience building productive partnerships and representing an organisation externally, including with local government, sporting organisations and community partners.
- Commercial and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing budgets, resources and commercial opportunities to support sustainable operations and growth.
- Facilities and operational management experience, with an understanding of the day-to-day requirements of managing contemporary sport, recreation, health or community facilities.
- A strong commitment to workplace culture, respect and inclusive leadership, with the ability to build a positive, high-performing and collaborative team environment.
- A genuine commitment to student experience and wellbeing, recognising the diverse needs of students, staff and the wider community, including people from under-represented groups.
- The ability to connect with and engage young people and diverse audiences, creating programs, services and experiences that encourage participation, connection and belonging.
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work effectively across the University and with external partners to deliver shared outcomes.
Role Requirements
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
