No commute. No open-plan office. One day a week back to yourself.

Four days from your own desk, and one catch-up in Brisbane to run through workflow and anything technical. That is the whole arrangement.

Accountcentric is a Brisbane public practice looking for an experienced tax accountant who has had enough of the parts of the job that were never really the job.

What is actually different here

We work to fixed fees. The focus is on doing the job properly and efficiently rather than stretching it out, and that shapes how the whole practice runs.

You get your own portfolio and you run it. Information request through to lodgement. You speak to your clients directly, not through three layers of internal review and a partner who has never met them.

Hit something technical and you ask the Principal. You get an answer that day. No queue, no committee, no waiting until Thursday’s WIP meeting.

The clients

Individuals, small and medium businesses, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs, plus a solid group of NDIS and disability services providers. Enough variety that you are not preparing the same return four hundred times, and enough depth that you will get genuinely good at a couple of things.

The work

- Income tax returns across individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs
- Financial statements, tax reconciliations and workpapers
- BAS, IAS and the rest of the compliance calendar
- CGT, payroll tax,



Division 7A and the small business questions that actually come up
- Tax planning before year end, explained to clients in language they can use
- SMSF and NDIS-sector work if it interests you. Neither is a prerequisite

You

- You have done real time in Australian public practice and you are well past needing your work checked line by line
- You can handle multiple entity types without a template holding your hand
- You know Xero and QuickBooks. Straightforward Fund is a bonus
- You spot the issue, form a view, and bring a recommendation rather than a question
- You can write to a client without hiding behind jargon
- You are disciplined enough that remote genuinely works for you
- You are in Brisbane or South East Queensland and can make the weekly catch-up

The deal

- Four days now, moving to full time as the client base grows, timed to suit you as much as us
- Fully remote. Laptop, software and professional membership covered
- Flexible start and finish times. What matters is what gets done, not when you sat down
- A direct line to the person who makes the decisions

One thing to be upfront about

You need to be in Brisbane or South East Queensland. The weekly catch-up is in person and it is the thing that makes the rest of the week work. If you are in Melbourne or Cairns, this one is not for you, and we would rather say so now than in a second interview.
