Are you an experienced lawyer with strong financial acumen and experience managing a small team?

We are delighted to be partnering with a well established professional member-based organisation in hiring an experienced lawyer to lead a specialist function responsible for complex investigations, statutory claims assessment, recoveries and stakeholder reporting.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior legal professional to combine technical legal expertise with people leadership, governance responsibilities and strategic policy involvement.

Reporting to a senior executive, you will manage a small team and oversee matters involving significant legal, financial and reputational considerations.

The Role

This position plays a critical role in the administration of a statutory compensation scheme and the assessment of claims involving alleged misconduct, financial loss and professional obligations.

Key responsibilities include

- Leading complex investigations and claims assessments.
- Managing a team of legal and investigation professionals.
- Preparing recommendations and reports for governance committees and senior decision makers.
- Overseeing recovery strategies and identifying opportunities to maximise recoveries.
- Monitoring fund performance and contributing to strategic planning.
- Working with senior stakeholders on policy development and legislative reform initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and governance requirements.




- Driving process improvement and operational effectiveness.

About You You are an experienced lawyer with strong leadership capabilities and a demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters involving detailed factual investigations.

Backgrounds that may be particularly relevant include Commercial litigation, Qualified indemnity, Financial services, Regulatory investigations, Government legal practice, trust and fiduciary disputes, and Wills and estates litigation.

You will also bring

- An unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical and written communication abilities.
- Experience preparing high-level reports and recommendations.
- The ability to balance legal, commercial and public interest considerations.
- Previous people leadership experience.
