Senior Parliamentary Liaison Officer

Location: Sydney CBD (Elizabeth Street) Contract Duration: Initial 6-Month Contract

Rate: $550 - $700 + Super per day

Start Date: ASAP (subject to completion of checks)

Working Arrangement: Hybrid | 2 days per week in office (Tuesday and Thursday)

About the Chance

Indigeco is partnering with a leading NSW State Government agency to recruit two Senior Parliamentary Liaison Officers for a newly established Parliamentary Liaison function. These positions will support Portfolio Ministers and senior executives by coordinating parliamentary responses, briefing materials, budget estimates, Standing Order 52 requests, and parliamentary business activities. Working within a fast-paced and politically sensitive environment, you will provide critical support during parliamentary sittings while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives during non-sitting periods.

The roles are part of two small, collaborative teams, with one vacancy available within each team.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate the preparation and delivery of accurate, high-quality parliamentary responses within strict timeframes.
- Draft, review and quality assure ministerial briefings, correspondence, parliamentary responses and executive documentation.
- Support the preparation and coordination of Budget Estimates, including witness preparation and briefing material development.
- Monitor parliamentary proceedings, committee hearings and debates, providing timely intelligence and updates to stakeholders.
- Monitor daily media summaries and identify emerging issues that may affect Ministers, Transport executives or parliamentary obligations.
- Prepare recommendations, briefing materials and supporting information for Ministerial Offices and senior stakeholders.




- Coordinate information requests and engage with subject matter experts across multiple business areas.
- Support the preparation and submission of Standing Order 52 responses.
- Liaise with Ministerial Offices, Legal, Cabinet Office representatives, executives and operational stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation and knowledge management systems using SharePoint and other corporate systems.
- Contribute to capability development, process improvement initiatives and parliamentary readiness activities during non-sitting periods.
- Provide flexible support during parliamentary sittings and peak workload periods.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience within parliamentary liaison, ministerial services, executive correspondence, government relations, policy, governance or a similar government environment.
- Exceptional written communication skills with demonstrated experience preparing executive correspondence, briefing notes and complex written responses.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in high-profile and politically sensitive documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Strong organisational capability with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- A proactive approach to identifying issues, anticipating stakeholder needs and developing practical solutions.
- Sound judgement, discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.




- Proven problem-solving abilities and a commitment to delivering outcomes under pressure.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Strong working knowledge of SharePoint and document management systems.
- Experience managing high-volume documentation and competing deadlines.
- Ability to analyse information, identify risks and provide recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Robust customer service mindset and ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.

Working Environment

- Based in the Sydney CBD Elizabeth Street office.
- Hybrid working model with two days per week in the office.
- Candidates must be willing to participate in a rotating roster commencing from 7:30am to support parliamentary sitting requirements and operational demands.
- Occasional after-hours work may be required during parliamentary sitting periods and urgent matters.
- Work closely within a small, high-performing team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
