The Opportunity An opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to step into a standalone payroll role within a stable organisation, supporting circa 150-200 employees. Working closely with Finance, you will take ownership of the payroll function while also identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase automation, and enhance payroll efficiencies. This role will suit a proactive payroll skilled who enjoys not only processing payroll but also reviewing current practices and making recommendations for improvement.
With a workforce comprising both EBA and salaried employees, the successful candidate will bring strong payroll knowledge, compliance expertise, and the confidence to operate autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end payroll processing supporting a workforce of circa 150-200 employees.
- Managing fortnightly payroll for EBA employees and monthly payroll for salaried employees
- Ensuring payroll compliance and accuracy across all payroll cycles
- Reviewing existing payroll processes and identifying improvement opportunities
- Implementing system and workflow enhancements where appropriate
- Developing and maintaining payroll procedures and work instructions
- Partnering closely with Finance to provide payroll expertise and guidance
- Managing payroll reporting and reconciliations
- Responding to payroll queries and resolving payroll-related issues
About You
- 5+ years of proven end-to-end payroll experience in an autonomous or senior role with ownership
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Must have experience processing payroll under Enterprise Agreements (EBA)
- Experience using UKG Payroll highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience improving payroll processes and driving efficiencies
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of payroll operations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- HR exposure beneficial but not essential
- Available to commence at short notice
