The Role
Make a real impact on community safety and wellbeing with the Town of Port Hedland! Are you an experienced regulatory professional ready to take the lead on complex compliance matters and shape safer, more resilient community? We are seeking a Senior Ranger to play a critical role in delivering high-quality regulatory services and supporting the day-to-day leadership of our Ranger Services team.
In this pivotal position, you will drive compliance outcomes across the community while acting as a trusted escalation point for complex regulatory matters. Working closely with the Coordinator Ranger Services, you will provide leadership, mentoring, and operational support to ensure best-practice enforcement and community engagement. This is an opportunity to combine your investigative expertise, leadership capability, and regulatory knowledge in a role that genuinely influences community wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities Deliver and lead compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to relevant state and local legislation
Support the Coordinator Ranger Services in overseeing daily operations and team performance
Act as the escalation point for complex or sensitive compliance matters
Conduct investigations, develop compliance strategies, and implement enforcement actions
Mentor, coach, and support trainee and junior rangers in their development
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of procedures, policies, and safe work practices
Lead legal matters, including preparing cases and representing the organisation in court proceedings
Promote community safety through education programs, proactive patrols, and risk mitigation (including fire, cyclone, and animal welfare compliance) For further information, please view the attached position description.
Work Related Requirements The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess: Successful completion of Regulatory Officers Compliance Skills (ROCS) 1 & 2 or equivalent Municipal Law Enforcement A and B.
Certificate IV in Local Government Regulatory Services.
Experience in firearms handling and safety, and the ability to obtain a firearms licence.
Current 'C' Class Manual Driver's Licence.
National Police Clearance.
