Over the past decade, Kepler Analytics has expanded from its Australian roots to serve 300 customers, with over 20,000 sensor installations across 35+ countries.
We’re a rapidly growing team of retail experts, hardware engineers, software developers, data scientists, and operations specialists across Australia, Europe, and the US, working closely to make our retail customers succeed with data.
About the Role
We’re looking for an Infrastructure and Platform Lead to play a key role in strengthening our platform capability, DevOps practices, production reliability, engineering standards and technical architecture.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this hands‑on role will work closely with DevOps, development, data, hardware and security teams to solve practical production challenges while improving engineering practices, operational processes and platform capabilities across the organisation.
You’ll remain deeply involved in coding, automation, infrastructure, CI/CD, troubleshooting and operational support, while also contributing architectural guidance and driving improvements across platform engineering practices. The role also provides the opportunity to help shape and introduce modern, AI‑enabled engineering workflows and capabilities across the organisation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic technical leadership with hands‑on engineering work and is passionate about building reliable, scalable, and modern engineering platforms.
The Opportunity
As the Infrastructure and Platform Lead, you will:
Lead platform engineering initiatives and DevOps support practices.
Own and develop DevOps, CI/CD and automation practices.
Provide technical leadership across architecture, reliability and cloud operations.
Drive improvements in incident response and operational resilience.
Lead cloud infrastructure, security and governance initiatives.
Mentor engineers and promote consistent engineering standards.
Improve team capability and delivery by exploring AI-driven engineering approaches.
Work cross‑functionally with hardware, security, data and operations teams.
About You
We’re looking for a technically strong Infrastructure and Platform Lead who can combine hands‑on engineering expertise with the ability to guide teams, improve standards and build scalable, secure and reliable platform capabilities.
You’ll bring:
5+ years of hands‑on experience in cloud and DevOps environments.
Proven ability to write production-quality scripts, services, automation, and tooling, preferably using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Node.js, or similar languages.
Strong hands‑on engineering background across DevOps, platform engineering, backend development, cloud infrastructure, or site reliability engineering.
Direct involvement with cloud environments, preferably AWS and/or Azure, including compute, storage, networking, databases, monitoring, secrets management, and cost‑aware design.
Solid CI/CD experience, including pipeline design,
deployment automation, release governance, rollback patterns, and secure software delivery practices.
Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across applications, databases, data processing pipelines, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and operational systems.
Experience advising on technical architecture, system design, scalability, performance, reliability, integration patterns, and platform trade‑offs.
High‑level understanding of modern engineering practices, including Git workflows, infrastructure as code, observability, automated testing, documentation, incident management and secure‑by‑design delivery.
Practical experience with AI‑assisted engineering tools and the ability to help the wider team adopt AI safely and effectively in development, DevOps, documentation, troubleshooting, and automation workflows.
Ability to work closely with security specialists on access control, compliance, vulnerability management, monitoring, and secure engineering practices.
