Endpoint IQ
Queensland
Endpoint IQ is a Brisbane-based software innovator building industry-leading research management software used by universities and research organizations worldwide. We're scaling globally with a strong track record as a trusted software partner, helping research communities manage ethics, grants, budgets, contracts, and research outputs.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a QA & Release Lead to own quality and release readiness across our product suite. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role: you'll define and enforce a modern QA process, own the release readiness gate and final sign-off, and drive test automation as an ongoing program.
Rather than managing a standing QA team, you'll charter and run our developer QA/support rotation, embedding quality practice directly into our product teams and coaching developers as they rotate through. You'll report to the CTO and partner closely with our Technical Leads and Platform Lead.
We're a team that embraces AI-powered development and testing as a core part of how we work. We expect you to bring the same mindset to QA: using modern tooling and AI thoughtfully to catch more defects with less manual effort.
What You'll Do
- Define and iterate an efficient, modern QA process that catches defects pre-release, leveraging contemporary tools and automation
- Own release quality end to end: define the criteria for work entering formal QA, establish release readiness standards, and provide final QA sign-off for every release
- Drive test automation as an ongoing program, growing coverage release over release and reducing manual regression effort
- Charter and run the developer QA/support rotation across product teams, defining responsibilities, cadence, and capacity expectations, and coaching developers rotating through
- Own the defect lifecycle with full traceability to backlog items and releases, prioritising critical issues for hotfix and retest before sign-off
- Own and report quality metrics and communicate QA status and expected timings at key checkpoints
- Plan release QA runs on a regular cadence with Technical Product Leads, including inclusions and focus areas, and compile the changelog as the quality record for each release
- Identify trends and root causes, and feed structured summaries and prevention actions back into Product and Development
Skills and Experience
Required
- 4+ years in QA / test engineering for web applications, with at least 2 years owning QA process or release quality
- Proven experience designing and running a QA process end to end: entry/exit criteria, test planning, defect lifecycle, and release sign-off
- Hands-on test automation experience including API-level testing and CI-integrated suites
- Experience with test case management tooling and structured exploratory testing
- Comfort defining and reporting quality metrics, and using them to drive decisions
- Experience working with (or leading) developers on quality practice - this role runs a developer rotation rather than relying on a separate QA team
- Practical experience using AI tools in testing and quality work, and the judgement to know where AI assists vs where human oversight is non-negotiable
- Explicit communicator who can set expectations with product, development, and customer-facing teams in a cooperative, hybrid environment
Highly Desirable
- Experience testing enterprise SaaS products across multiple client environments and configurations
- Familiarity with our stack: C# / ASP.NET, Vue.js, SQL Server, Azure
- Experience turning support/ticket data into root-cause analysis and prevention work
- Visual regression and performance testing experience
- Experience building or scaling test automation programs from a low base
- Prior experience in tech startups, SaaS, research, higher education, or clinical institutions
- Understanding of research management practices in Australia or New Zealand
