Meracare Aged Care is a family-owned residential care provider with homes in Carrum Downs, Frankston and Wangaratta. We are searching for aPart Time Chef or Cook to work on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 0900 - 1700, and leave relief, for our 60-bed home in Wangaratta.
Reporting to the Kitchen Team Leader and overseeing a team of catering staff, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality catering service to our residents. This role is essential in the preparation, presentation, and supervision of the provision of the resident’s daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements whilst working cooperatively with care staff.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide high-quality catering services to the residents of the facility day to day and during special events as directed by management
- Planning, preparation and serving of resident meals, drinks and snacks
- Oversee a catering team ensuring compliance with Food Safety Practices
- Participate in cost effective food ordering systems
- Manage food services that includes stock monitoring and control for the efficient use of resources.
- Demonstrated ability to comply with legal requirements (e.g. Accreditation Standards, Food Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act i.e. hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen).
- Use and maintain equipment in a protected manner at all times.
- Document and maintain records in accordance with the food safety plan.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
About You:
- Demonstrated hands on kitchen cooking and management experience inan Aged Care setting
- Commercial Cookery background or Hospitality Qualification
- Food Safety Supervisor Health Competencies Qualifications
- Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound computer skills
- Demonstrated prioritization and organization skills
- Proven ability and commitment to work autonomously
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate an operational team
- Commitment to maintain confidentiality in all matters
- Full working rights
- Current NDIS workers screening check
- Evidence of current Influenza vaccination
