Viking Imports is a family owned specialty food importer, distributor and 3PL solutions provider. We supply premium products to Australia’s leading independent retailers, health food stores, specialty deli’s and major supermarket chains. Some of our best sellers are frozen wild blueberries, organic goat feta and Swedish crispbreads! Having been in operation for over 30 years, the next family generation are looking to substantially organise and ramp the business up with your help in processing and managing our internal accounts.
The Role
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and taking ownership of the day-to-day accounts function. Working closely with management and our external accountants, you'll be involved in all aspects of finance, from daily processing and reconciliations through to month-end reporting, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Based in our new offices in Prestons, this accounting and bookkeeping role will focus on managing our daily accounts receivable and payable functions, financial administration and end-of-month activities. You'll be responsible for a broad range of duties, including accounts receivable management, customer support via phone and email, bookkeeping, account reconciliations and preparing information for our external accountants and management team.
Overall, your responsibilities include:
Month-End Activities: Supporting month-end close procedures, reconciliations and the preparation of financial reports to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Payment Processing: Entering and processing bills, bank feed reconciliation and closing out of payments.
Compliance:
Preparing BAS and other ATO compliance requirements while maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
Bookkeeping: Accurate data entry of bills and providing support to ensure timely payments to our suppliers.
Customer Support: Phone and email support for our customers, new customer set up, credit checks, credit note creation and processing, rebates, customer statement creation and managing customers in our CRM.
Email Account Management: Own and manage our ‘accounts’ email account
Debt Collection: Following up overdue accounts in a friendly and professional manner and investigate and resolve customer billing irregularities
Cash Flow Management: Preparing weekly cash flow forecasts and monitoring the business cash position to support effective decision-making.
Accounts Receivables: Maintaining our cash flow by ensuring all our customer accounts are accurate, up-to-date and paid within terms
Reporting:Preparing monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and AP/AR reports, assisting with budgeting activities and providing financial insights to management.
Year End Prep: Working closely with our external accountants and assisting with year-end financial reporting and audit preparation.
Payroll Processing: Managing weekly and fortnightly payroll, superannuation contributions and employee entitlements, ensuring all payments are accurate and processed on time.
Team Collaboration: Working closely with our warehouse,
operations and management teams to ensure smooth day-to-day business operations and strong communication across the business.
Continuous Improvement:Offering ideas of better ways to do things and promptly implementing adjustments
What you bring to the table
You have common sense, a high attention to detail and thrive on improving processes.
Additionally, you will bring:
3+ years All Rounder Accounts experience, ideally in a stand alone role in the food or imports industry
Exceptional attention to detail in data entry and financial calculations to prevent billing errors in AR and AP.
Robust understanding of Australian accounting principles, payroll and GST/BAS requirements
Tertiary education in accounting, finance or similar
Proficiency in Accounting software and spreadsheets (Ideally MYOB Acumatica)
A down to earth, friendly, easy to get along with approach
Great priority management and ability to work both independently and in a team
Proficiency in the use of CRM and Warehouse Management Systems
Process driven with a high level of organisation and time management ability
Creative thinking and excellent attention to detail

Hours:8:00 AM - 4:00 PM-ish or 7:00AM - 3:00PM-ish, Monday to Friday
